Commentary
Welcome back for DC's response with the bat. The two umpires walk out to the middle. Royal Challengers Bengaluru form a team huddle near their dugout before spreading out to the park. Faf du Plessis is accompanied by Jake Fraser-McGurk to open for Delhi Capitals. Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been handed over the new ball and will kick off the proceedings in this chase for RCB. Away we go...
... THE RUN CHASE ...
Well then, the million-dollar question now. Is 163 enough? Sure, it is a total to fight for all money, and RCB will be aiming to get quick early wickets in the Powerplay. A lot depends on how their new-ball bowlers, Josh Hazlewood and Bhuvneshwar Kumar, perform. For DC, their opening partnership has been vulnerable, and they too will need a strong start to chase this down. Stay tuned, as the run chase is up next very shortly.
Kuldeep Yadav of Delhi Capitals is in for a chat. He says it's very important to stick to the length and while playing on such wickets, it's important to give the ball a lot of revs, which worked well for him. Adds that the wicket is still good to bat on and with smaller dimensions, he had to keep persistent with the length and read what the batters were trying to do. States that he had a discussion with KL and Axar and with a few balls sticking to the surface, he planned accordingly, and the team managed to pick crucial wickets in the middle overs. Concludes that there is no sign of dew and reckons that 160 is a chaseable total and they will need to bat well.
Axar Patel was smart in operating his bowlers, with them responding with massive returns. The two wristies, Kuldeep Yadav and Vipraj Nigam, broke the back of the RCB middle order with two wickets each. But with the help of Tim David's quickfire cameo of 37 off 20, at the backend, RCB managed to get past the 160-run mark, giving RCB a much-needed lift in the death overs.
As DC's bowlers tightened their grip, wickets fell in quick succession while Rajat Patidar watched helplessly from the non-striker's end. Each budding partnership was systematically broken before it could blossom into something substantial. The mounting scoreboard pressure eventually consumed Patidar too, who perished attempting to break free.
To save the momentum from nosediving, Kohli's aggression proved his undoing. His departure completed a stunning collapse that saw RCB plummet from a commanding 61 without loss to a precarious 91/4, leaving the home crowd stunned as Delhi's bowlers wrested control of proceedings with clinical efficiency. They only conceded 27 runs in the next four overs after the Powerplay.
The Bengaluru wicket promised runs aplenty, and RCB's opening pair didn't disappoint. Salt unleashed a boundary barrage, looking in devastating touch while Kohli found his fluent rhythm alongside him. Their partnership had the scoreboard racing until a communication breakdown resulted in Salt's unfortunate run-out, applying unexpected brakes to RCB's momentum. 62 runs came in the first four overs, while DC counterpunched back by conceding just two runs in the next two overs, including Mukesh Kumar's wicket-maiden over.
They say miscommunication is the beginning of disaster, and RCB's innings perfectly embodied this truth as a promising start turned into a catastrophic collapse in the middle overs. But a brilliant late flourish from Tim David has helped RCB to post a fightable total on the board, as they manage to squeeze out 36 off the last two overs.

FOUR! Just the kind of end Royal Challengers Bengaluru were hoping for. 19 runs off the final over and they end at 163/7. Mukesh Kumar goes fuller than a length and outside off, Tim David carves it over covers for a four to close the innings.
Gets what he was searching for this time. A yorker, tailing back in, on middle and leg, Tim David clears his front leg out of the line and looks to jam it out but ekes out and inside edge that goes back to the keeper.
WIDE! Mukesh Kumar is struggling to find the right line and the length against Tim David! He goes short and down leg. Tim leaves it alone.
Tim David has called for a change of gloves. The reserve player from the RCB dugout comes out with a new pair and hands it over to David. Good to continue now.
WIDE! Full and going down leg, Tim David gives the bowler a charge and looks to flick but misses. KL Rahul does well to make a stop, diving to his left.
Much better from Mukesh Kumar. Goes very full, right in the blockhole but on leg, Tim David flicks it to mid-wicket.
SIX! Tim David is adding valuable runs towards the end. Fine little cameo this. Mukesh Kumar drops it short and over off, Tim David waits back and pulls it over deep mid-wicket for six more. 13 runs off the over already.
Bangs the deck, on a back of a length, on middle and leg, Tim David miscues his pull to short fine leg.
SIX! A freebie served on a platter and Tim David sends it sailing. A juicy full toss, outside off, Tim David slices it over covers for a biggie. Royal Challengers Bengaluru get past 150-runs.
GIVEN WIDE but KL Rahul is certain that there was a nick and Delhi Capitals have sent it upstairs. Short and angling into the left shoulder of the batter, Tim David swivels back to pull but misses. The ball goes past the glove and KL Rahul takes a good catch to his left. The UltraEdge shows absolutely nothing as the ball passes the bat and the glove. Delhi Capitals lose the review. Stays a wide.
Not Starc, it is Mukesh Kumar (2-1-7-1) who will bowl the last over.

Axar goes full and around off and middle, Tim David cuts it to backward point.
SIX! That's a shot and a half! Floated full, on off, Tim David gets his front leg out and whips it over long off for another six off the over.
Keeps it wide outside off, on a length, Tim cuts hard but cannot get it past backward point this time.
FOUR! Precisely placed! A bit short again, over off, Tim David waits back and cuts it past backward point for four more runs. Just the kind of start to the over RCB needed.
SIX! BANG! Royal Challengers Bengaluru need many more of these from Tim David! Axar Patel comes back into the attack and drops the first one short, on middle, Tim rocks back and nails his pull wide of deep mid-wicket for a biggie.

Very full, on middle, Bhuvneshwar Kumar blocks.
Tossed up, on off, Tim David pushes it to cover for a single.
A wrong'un, on middle and leg, Bhuvneshwar Kumar works it to square leg for one.
Almost another one! Nigam bowls it short and on middle and off, getting the ball to stick to the surface and reach the batter slower than he was expecting. Bhuvneshwar Kumar chips it straight back to the bowler, but the ball dips in front of Nigam.
Commentary
That brings an end to this contest as Delhi Capitals continue their dominant run, handing Royal Challengers Bengaluru their second home defeat of the season while extending their own unbeaten streak. The IPL caravan now moves to the iconic MA Chidambaram Stadium, where Chennai Super Kings will take on Kolkata Knight Riders in Match 25 on April 11, Friday. The action kicks off at 7.30 pm IST (2 pm GMT), but be sure to join us early for all the pre-match buildup. Until then, take care and see you soon for another thrilling encounter.
KL Rahul is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH for his unbeaten and match-winning knock of 93 runs off 53 balls. He says it was a slightly tricky wicket, but having seen it play from behind the stumps for 20 overs, it gave him a good idea of how to tackle it. Adds that it wasn't two-paced as such, but was just sticking a bit. Mentions his plans and says he knew when and which pockets to target, and once he got in, just kept going and enjoyed playing at his home ground. Talks about his preparation and says how he looks to adapt to the conditions and plan accordingly, not just in games, but also in practice sessions too.
The victorious captain of Delhi Capitals, Axar Patel, says everyone in the team is brimming with confidence and is delighted to win four out of four. Highlights that he took a chance to deploy more spin as the RCB openers love to bat against pace. Reflects that when he came to bowl, the ball was gripping and holding a bit. Appreciates the wrist spinners for bowling exceptionally well. Says Kuldeep Yadav has been doing the job over the years, and also lauds Vipraj Nigam for being confident enough to bowl the 18th over. Also admits that bringing himself to bowl in the 19th over was a tactical mistake where he conceded too many runs. On KL Rahul, he says it's a luxury to have him in the side. Mentions it is not easy to bat at different positions and says he played a mature innings, partnering well with Stubbs and is continuing with his form from the Champions Trophy.
It's time for the Presentation Ceremony ...
Tristan Stubbs, from Delhi Capitals, is in for a chat next. He says it was a satisfying knock and mentions he did not have to do much with KL Rahul at the other end despite the tricky situation. Further says they lost a few early wickets and he wanted to get in and spend some time, and knew one good over would change things around. Mentions that he bats at different positions for every team he represents, but the roles are different too. Adds that he personally enjoys batting later in the game, which gives him enough time to know what the wicket is offering.
The captain of Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Rajat Patidar, reflects on the challenge of winning at home. He says the wicket was quite good to bat on, but admits they didn't bat well and lost one too many wickets in the middle overs. Says every batter is in a good frame of mind. On Tim David, he says the way he accelerated in the backend was amazing. Also appreciates the new-ball bowlers for bowling nicely in the Powerplay. He concludes by saying that they are not thinking about their away records, and just want to play good positive cricket all around.
Earlier in the game, Phil Salt came out all guns blazing, tearing into the Delhi Capitals’ bowling attack with an explosive start that left the opposition shell-shocked. RCB raced to 61 runs in under four overs, setting the stage for a massive total. However, a mix-up in the middle led to Salt’s unfortunate dismissal, triggering a dramatic collapse as RCB stumbled to 102/5 in no time. Just when things looked grim, Tim David stepped up with a crucial late flourish, injecting momentum into the innings and guiding RCB to a respectable 163-run total. For Delhi Capitals, it was a collective effort with the ball, but Kuldeep Yadav and Vipraj Nigam stood out, each claiming two wickets to keep RCB in check.
For RCB, it was a tale of two halves in both innings, they started strong but couldn’t sustain the pressure when it mattered the most. Bhuvneshwar Kumar was the standout performer with the ball, claiming two crucial wickets, while the rest of the attack put in a decent shift. However, with only 163 to defend, they needed something extraordinary, and it just wasn’t enough against a well-executed chase from Delhi.
Then came a masterclass in chase management. KL Rahul and Tristan Stubbs stitched together a risk-free yet aggressive partnership, capitalizing on every scoring opportunity. Rahul notched up another sublime half-century, while Stubbs grew in confidence as the innings progressed. A slight drizzle after 14 overs seemed to be the catalyst for acceleration, as the duo switched gears effortlessly. With calculated aggression, they dismantled the RCB bowling attack, ensuring the job was done with utmost ease.
Defending a below-par total, RCB’s pacers came out firing, striking in quick succession to leave Delhi reeling at 39/3 by the end of the Powerplay. KL Rahul, calm and composed, held firm while wickets tumbled at the other end, mostly due to poor shot selection. Axar Patel tried to steady the innings alongside Rahul but fell at a crucial juncture, briefly swinging the momentum back in RCB’s favour.
Delhi Capitals cruise past Royal Challengers Bengaluru, handing them their second home defeat of the season while extending their own winning streak to four matches to stay as the only unbeaten team this season! A clinical and calculated chase, expertly anchored by KL Rahul, sealed the deal for DC with 6 wickets and 13 balls to spare.
SIX! The Chinnaswamy is silenced as the DC juggernaut continues. Defeating CSK at Chepauk before, Delhi Capitals have now defeated RCB in their own backyard. The local lad, KL Rahul, does the job in style! This is the first ever time that Delhi Capitals have won their first four games in the history of their IPL journey. They remain unbeaten in this edition so far. Coming onto the delivery, Dayal spears in a full toss, wayward on the pads, KL Rahul picks it up and sails it behind deep fine leg for a six.
FIVE WIDES! SCORES LEVEL! A freebie at a very inopportune moment from Dayal. Way too short from Dayal, over the batter's head. It keeps sailing over and beats the acrobatic wicket-keeper, Jitesh Sharma, to run behind to the fence. Royal Challengers Bengaluru have challenged the Wide call and have opted for a review. The side-on angle shows the ball passing well over KL Rahul's head. The decision of Wide stays.
FOUR! This is range-hitting of the highest order! Also, the 100-run stand comes up between these two! On a length, across off, a slower one. KL Rahul switches his stances and reverse ramps it over short third for a boundary.
SIX! Going for the kill now, is KL Rahul! Not that short from Dayal, angling over off, KL Rahul weighs on the back foot and cracks the pull shot, hoisting it over deep mid-wicket for a six.
A slower one, at just 99 kph, on a good length, Tristan Stubbs waits and waits for it, and chips it through mid on for a single.
Over top of off, on a length, KL Rahul punches off the higher part of the bat, for a single wide of cover.

Back of a length, on off, KL Rahul eases it to the left of backward point for a single.
A length ball, on top of off, Tristan Stubbs punches it down to long off for a single.
Strategic Break! This 76-run partnership has propelled Delhi Capitals to the brink of victory, leaving RCB gasping for answers. With a slight drizzle in the air, conditions haven’t helped Rajat Patidar and his men after their fiery start. Despite rotating his bowlers relentlessly to break this stand, KL Rahul’s masterclass, paced to perfection alongside Stubbs' composed support, has DC in complete control at the moment. RCB now find themselves in desperate need of something special, and right away, as Delhi require only just 30 runs off 24 balls. Can they pull it around, or is it all but over? We shall very soon find out. Bhuvneshwar Kumar (3-0-14-2) comes back into the attack.

A googly, too full and outside off, KL Rahul steers it across to deep mid-wicket for a single. Looks for the second run, but was never there.
Stubbs is off the mark! Flat and full, outside off, Tristan Stubbs leans forward and drives it to cover for a single.
Strategic Break! RCB, defending a modest total, needed early breakthroughs, and their pacers delivered in style! They dismantled Delhi Capitals' top order, not allowing anyone to settle, and now the spinner, Suyash Sharma, is joining the party to deepen DC’s woes. KL Rahul has looked in fine touch, getting off to a promising start, but he needs solid support from the other end to rebuild the innings and steer his side out of trouble. This is the same phase where DC turned the game around with the ball in the first innings, but can they do it again, this time with the bat? A gripping middle phase awaits as Tristan Stubbs walks in at number 6 for DC.
OUT! IN THE AIR AND TAKEN! Suyash Sharma keeps making impact for RCB with the ball! He bowls on a flatter trajectory, just angling outside off, Axar Patel takes his front foot ahead and tries to clear long off, but mistimes it badly as the bat face is closed right at the point of contact. Finds no elevation, and no distance either. Sails it straight down the throat of Tim David stationed at long off. The giant Aussie is not dropping those dollies. Delhi Capitals lose their skipper and are 58/4. Suyash Sharma breaks this 28-run stand as Axar Patel departs for 15 (11).
Suyash keeps it away from the batter's arc, sliding outside off, on a fuller length. Axar Patel crouches and gives a wild swing. A leading edge is found the ball flies over short third. Bhuvneshwar Kumar from the inner ring chases the ball to the deep. Two taken.
FOUR! Just over in-field and in the gap! Pitched further up, around off, Axar Patel takes a huge stride ahead and lofts it inside out over cover for a boundary.

FOUR! A superb effort from Josh Hazlewood but in vain! On a good length, on middle, Abishek Porel tucks it past square leg. Hazlewood from deep third moves across quickly and flicks the ball off his right hand through his legs with a dive ahead. The third umpire checks a couple of angles and deems it a boundary as Josh Hazlewood had his fingers in contact with the boundary cushion when the ball was in his hand.
Has Hoff managed to save the boundary? He dives to his right in an attempt to intercept the ball. But, unfortunately, he just contacts with the cushions while the ball in hand, before flicking it off. Also, seems like Hazlewood has tweaked his neck a bit while taking the tumble, but looks good to continue. A good effort nevertheless.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar goes short of a good length, on off, Jake Fraser-McGurk opens up his stance, clears out his front leg and has a wild hack across the line. Only manages to get a top edge that goes very high in the air, behind the stumps. Jitesh Sharma calls for it and keeps his eyes on the ball while it swirls around. He almost makes a mess of it but manages to gobble it in his mitts. Jake Fraser-McGurk's lean patch this season continues.

OUT! CAUGHT! Mukesh Kumar makes a big impact! The pressure on Devdutt Padikkal was building, and one could sense it was coming. Kumar rolls his finger over the ball and keeps it a tad fuller than a length, on middle and off, Devdutt Padikkal stands tall and looks to whip it across but is deceived by the lack of pace. Goes through the shot as his bottom hand comes off the handle and spoons it to mid on. Axar Patel moves across to his right and takes a good catch. Devdutt Padikkal's struggle in the middle comes to an end and RCB lose their second for 64 runs.
Three dots on a row. Short of a length and well outside off, Devdutt Padikkal tries to reach for it but gets beaten on the outside edge. A sluggish start from Devdutt Padikkal!

OUT! RUN OUT! What an unfortunate way to get out! Only a run out would have had Salt out, to be very fair with the way he was batting. A sad ending to his rollicking inning. Length, around off, Salt backs away and cuts it to extra cover and straightaway rushes off for a single. Virat Kohli too, runs a few steps forward, but then sends Salt back. Salt tries to retreat but slips on his way back to the batting end. With a slip in place, Starc lands it right on the money! Hits the deck hard, with a tinge of an inward shape, on off, Phil Salt leans forward and drives it, but straight to mid off.

JUST IN - In a big blow to CSK's already shaky campaign, their skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad has been ruled out due to an elbow injury for the remainder of the season. Gaikwad suffered that injury while batting against the Rajasthan Royals in Guwahati. And to fulfill the captaincy duties, the 43-year-young MS Dhoni is back in the leadership role for the yellow brigade. MSD last led CSK back in 2023, with the finale being his last game as the leader of the franchise. Now, fans hope his Midas touch can reignite CSK’s fading campaign as they languish second-to-the-bottom of the points table with just a solitary win out of five games.
PITCH REPORT - Danny Morrison is down in the middle for the pitch analysis, joined by Varun Aaron. Morrison starts by saying that there are a few clouds hovering around and says pitch number 7 is being used for this game. Mentions that the square boundaries are equidistant at 64 meters and the straight hit is 73 meters. Varun joins in and says there was a small passing drizzle earlier in the day, but the pitch is dry with a few patches of grass and states that heavy rollers were used, which could mean there will be plenty of runs.
With a lot of matchups and marquee battles, this could become another Chinnaswamy run-fest, where the high altitude, and short boundaries turn every ball into scoring potential. With the last ten encounters split evenly at 5-5, this rivalry remains perfectly poised. The toss is moments away, so don't go anywhere! Stay tuned.
Delhi Capitals have shaken off their underperforming tag this season, flourishing under Axar Patel's leadership with their revamped squad firing collectively. KL Rahul's remarkable consistency anchors the entire batting, while Mitchell Starc's searing pace and Kuldeep Yadav's craft make a lethal bowling duo. The mercurial Jake Fraser-McGurk continues his high-risk, high-reward approach at the top, yet to pay dividends but capable of changing games when in full flow. Their X-factor remains rookie leg-spinner Vipraj Nigam, whose bowling flair has surprised many. With Faf du Plessis' fitness under the cloud, this well-oiled DC unit appears ready to storm RCB's fortress.
RCB’s 44-44 win-loss record at home, and around 48% success rate tell a tale of equilibrium, yet the real drama lies in their quest to conquer their own den. But winning three games in their last five home outings signals a potential shift. The batting unit hums with synchronized precision as Virat Kohli and skipper Rajat Patidar have been the twin pillars of run production, while the supporting cast chips in with timely cameos. But the true revelation has been their bowling arsenal. Once viewed as their vulnerable underbelly, the attack led by has undergone a metamorphosis, with both pace and spin contingents conjuring match-defining spells.
Both sides have got a good early momentum this season, and are progressing on similar trajectories. It is 3v2 as RCB are flying high this season, sitting third with three wins from four matches. What makes their campaign even more impressive is that all three victories came in challenging away fixtures, against the big-3, proving their ability to conquer foreign fortresses. However, the one blemish on their otherwise stellar season came right here at home, highlighting their long-standing struggle to dominate at their beloved home ground. While DC, occupying the second spot, is the only team to be defeated this season, with three wins on the trot.
Hello, everyone! The Indian Premier League 2025 is heating up as we move into the third week, with every team fighting hard, and the competition now shifting into high gear. Tonight, the action shifts to the buzzing ‘Garden City’, Bengaluru, where the iconic M. Chinnaswamy Stadium awaits a blockbuster clash between the home favorites, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, and the formidable Delhi Capitals. With a packed crowd, a pitch primed for runs, and two star-studded lineups eager to build on their momentum, this promises to be an unmissable showdown under the lights.
... MATCH DAY ...
Like a well-oiled machine gathering momentum, IPL 2025 is now in full swing with matches cascading thick and fast. The upper echelons of the points table are teeming with contenders on six points apiece, and two such teams charting similar courses are set for an electrifying collision. The hallowed grounds of M. Chinnaswamy Stadium will once again buzz with excitement as Royal Challengers Bengaluru welcome the Delhi Capitals in what promises to be a spectacle to watch out for. The Capitals arrive as the tournament's lone unblemished side, boasting a perfect record of three victories from three outings. Meanwhile, RCB's campaign has suffered just a solitary setback against GT, but this season has unfurled a refreshing narrative for the RCB outfit. They have transformed into conquering heroes this IPL season, traveling across India to claim victories where few dared dream possible. Like knights of old seizing distant castles, they've embarked on a remarkable journey, defeating the ‘Holy Trinity’ of IPL cricket, - Chennai Super Kings, Mumbai Indians, and Kolkata Knight Riders - in their own backyard, teams who together boast an impressive thirteen championship trophies. First came the fall of Eden Gardens, KKR's proud home. Then they stormed the yellow fortress of Chepauk, where CSK rarely taste defeat. Their crowning achievement came at Wankhede Stadium, toppling the mighty Mumbai Indians to complete their sweep of cricket's most feared kingdoms. What makes their story even more interesting is that their only loss happened in their own backyard. Now these road warriors return to Chinnaswamy Stadium, hoping to defend their home with the same fighting spirit that made them so successful on their travels. Virat Kohli remains their consistent and steadfast leader in battle, forming a powerful opening duo with the explosive Phil Salt. Captain Rajat Patidar has grown stronger with the responsibility of leadership, with his bat speaking volumes with every match. And with Devdutt Padikkal too, finding his form again, their already strong middle order looks even more dangerous, with good depth. Once considered their nemesis, RCB's bowling arsenal has undergone a remarkable transformation this season. The pace department now stands tall with Josh Hazlewood spearheading the attack, his precision complemented perfectly by Bhuvneshwar Kumar's masterful swing, a formidable pairing that has kept batters watchful during the Powerplay. Add an improved Yash Dayal to the mix, and their pace stocks look healthier. Even more surprising has been their spin revival. Krunal Pandya and Suyash Sharma have effectively silenced pre-season doubts about their spin resources, weaving their magic through those middle overs when matches are often won and lost. Turning our attention to Delhi Capitals, the silent assassins of IPL 2025. Flying under the radar while toppling giants, this underestimated unit has quietly assembled an unblemished record. Under Axar Patel's astute leadership, this revamped Delhi squad has maintained perfect harmony with three wins from three outings. Their path, however, differs from RCB's road warriors. The Capitals have fortified their home base in Vizag with two commanding victories, while also demonstrating their away credentials by dismantling CSK in their own backyard at Chepauk, that too, without the services of Faf du Plessis. Despite their flawless run, Delhi Capitals face one glaring concern, their opening combination. Jake Fraser-McGurk, renowned for his explosive batting, has yet to convert his attacking reputation into meaningful contributions at the top. However, the batting unit finds stability through KL Rahul's composed presence and Axar Patel's all-round excellence, creating a solid foundation for power-hitters Tristan Stubbs and Ashutosh Sharma to launch their fireworks in the later stages. On the bowling front, Mitchell Starc has emerged as their lethal weapon, already securing his place among the season's top five wicket-takers. Kuldeep Yadav and the supporting cast have delivered steady performances to round out a capable attack. History, however, presents an interesting challenge for the Capitals. Their last victory against RCB dates back to 2023, an encounter where Phil Salt, now ironically wearing RCB colors, claimed the man of the match award while representing Delhi. With the head-to-head ledger heavily favoring RCB at 19-11, this showdown offers DC the perfect opportunity to narrow that gap and continue their unbeaten march. As these two in-form teams prepare to cross swords at Chinnaswamy, cricket fans can expect a contest where recent momentum collides with historical dominance, creating the perfect recipe for an IPL classic.
